XBRL reporting
XBRL is a global reporting standard for financial reporting. Using a taxonomy, or dictionary of financial concepts, reporting entities can produce reports which can be automatically analysed and compared across reporting period, competitors or industries with a high degree of accuracy.
The US SEC mandated in 2008 that all US listed companies report quarterly in the XBRL format. Today the standard supports other reporting such as European Central Bank (ECB) capital adequacy reporting, UK HMRC tax reporting and XBRL reporting for annual financial statements in Mauritius.
